With proper care, down products have the potential to last for generations, and are completely biodegradable at the end of their lifecycle. Unlike synthetic fills, which wear out after 3-5 years, down can last for decades. We have encountered duvets older than 150 years, with down still in good condition. When the ticking (outer covering) wears out, we can clean and restore the down and place it in a new covering. St. Genève so thoroughly believes in the longevity of their product that they guarantee the quality for up to 20 years.
